The last time that London musician Khushi appeared on the pages of TMR was with ‘Stories’ from his 2014 Phantoms EP, after which the artist put much of his efforts into his joint project Strong Asian Mothers. This year, Khushi is delving back into his solo work, the result being a gorgeously diverse and viable electronic-pop sound centered around his distinct vocals. Putting aside the prelude, let’s turn our attention to the newest single ‘From Me’. By the same token that Khuhsi’s voice lies at the core of this music, providing the flow and rhythm of each section; in the video, it’s the choreography that sits as the cornerstone. Khushi elaborates on this purposeful choice, “I wanted to give the dancers [Elijah Laurent and Kya Bliss] space to bring their own creative instincts and natural chemistry to the process. They did an incredible job and Parsons, who also used to be a dancer, created an amazingly open, energetic and creative atmosphere on set.” The release of ‘From Me’ follows a lengthy tour supporting close friend and collaborator, James Blake, across the US and UK including two sold-out shows at Eventim Apollo last month. - Hannah Thacker   [Photo credit: Jack Bridgland]
